Inaugural Kred Leaders Conference Defines Future Of Influence

Social media leaders gather to examine how personal networks can create positive social change

SAN FRANCISCO, May 29, 2012 – Kred, the Community Influence and Outreach measure, today announced the first-ever Kred Leaders Conference will take place at San Francisco’s PeopleBrowsr Labs on May 29-30, 2012. Top social media influencers will meet with prominent figures like Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom to examine how social media can help anyone achieve personal, professional or charitable goals.

Led by Porter Gale, former Vice President Marketing at Virgin America, Kred Leaders are highly connected leaders who share a passion for engaging with others and being advocates within their communities. This group of talented, engaged individuals is dedicated to fostering conversation and building meaningful relationships on social networks. Hot topics will include the forces that put recent sensations like #Kony2012 and #OWS in motion, and educating and empowering people to use their personal networks for social good.

Attendees will include notable business and nonprofit leaders like HARO founder Peter Shankman, #YouMatter creator Angela Maiers, Invisible.tv founder Mark Horvath, global business celebrity Jeffrey Hayzlett, and Intel Social Media Strategist Ekaterina Walter. Conference attendees will have a combined following of over 1.5 million people on social networks.

Conference highlights will include a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom to explore how social media can strengthen political action; visits to some of San Francisco’s hottest social startups to discuss how engaging and activating influential people creates opportunities for change; a Tweet-Up at Joie de Vivre’s Rex Hotel to engage the world in a conversation about how social media can address current social problems; and a sneak preview of Kred’s roadmap.

“In a time where social media allows anyone to have a voice, inverting Orwell by creating millions of ‘Little Brothers,’ we are excited to amplify the reach and message of this key group of influencers,” said Andrew Grill, CEO, Kred. “The Kred Leaders Conference will be an important event in developing practices for enabling anyone to use the power of social media for positive social change.”
