Influencer Story: Stephanie Ruhle

How does someone working for some of the biggest players on Wall Street, become one of America’s most sought-after TV show hosts? Stephanie Ruhle, TV anchor at MSNBC, wife, +mother of three and multitasker extraordinaire has had no ordinary life.



Wall Street Chic

A New Jersey native, Ruhle has a bachelor’s degree in International Business. Soon after her graduation, she began her career at Credit Suisse where she spent 6 years working in hedge fund sales. She was promoted to Vice President and became one of the highest producing credit derivatives sales people in the country.

In 2003 she moved on to Deutsche Bank where she worked for 8 years, ending her stint as a Managing Director, overseeing relationships for the bank’s largest hedge fund clients.


The Face of Bloomberg TV

Ruhle joined Bloomberg TV as a correspondent in 2011. She started off by co-hosting a two hour early morning program called “Inside Track” with Erik Schatzker. A year later, they both joined “Market Makers”, a late morning program that gave her the opportunity to interview notable figures.

In 2016, she left Bloomberg to join MSNBC as an anchor of MSNBC Live and NBC News correspondent.

The London Whale Breakthrough

Ruhle is known for her incredible breakthrough in the London Whale case, being the first person to report the story and identify the trader, Bruno Iksil, behind the 2012 JPMorgan Chase trading loss.

The  London based trader Iksil, had played a significant role in amassing significant amounts of money and had distorted prices in the $10M credit derivative market.

Stephanie’s strong network in the finance industry provided her an inside scoop. She initially brushed aside the tip as another-day-incident at work. Repeatedly hearing the same story from her sources, got her thinking otherwise. While many had speculated the credibility of the story, it was later acknowledged that Bloomberg had it right all the while.



All in a day’s work

At Bloomberg, Ruhle profiled influential figures, business tycoons and industry icons. as Her noted interviews included New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, NBA player Kobe Bryant, President Elect Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, former Vice President Al Gore,  Kanye West,  the business magnate Russell Simmons, and many more


Empowering women on-the-go

Throughout her career, Ruhle has focused on helping other women succeed. She is actively involved in women’s leadership rights and interests.

While at Deutsche Bank, she founded the Global Market Women’s Network to help women move into leadership roles at the company. She also co-chaired the Women on Wall Street (WOWS) steering committee. Ruhle used to serve on the corporate councils of iMentor and The White House Project, a not-for-profit that focuses on advancing women in business, government and media.




Multi-tasker Extraordinaire

Today, Ruhle serves on the board and advises for React To Film, an issue-based documentary film series.

Considered to be one of the most-attractive faces of the Business world on TV, Ruhle has been profiled by numerous magazines such as the 201 Magazine, IWantHerJob, Business Insider, and Glass Hammer as well as on Fit Pregnancy on the April/May edition of the 2013 issue.  

She is also a LinkedIn Influencer and was also portrayed on October 2012 on the cover of Working Mother magazine.
